Great shoe but as usual Salomon are a narrow shoe, and these don’t come in a wide fit , tried a larger size, like flippers , and still to narrow
DeputyDawg –
Have owned for a week. Nice looking, smarter alternative to sandals. Don’t envisage swimming in them just general summer use.
GaryB –
I love the concept, but found them too narrow at the toe and with too little footbox space for height. Shoes that are going to be worn without socks need to fit well and not rub. Please offer in a wide fitting.

Love these shoes, the headline says it all. Get yourself a pair and you’ll soon be waiting for the next season to get a second color.
Lost C –
I got the TECHAMPHIBIAN 5 for river crossings during my hike of The Lost Coast Trail in Kings Range California. They were very comfortable and protected my feet really well. They performed above and beyond what I expected. Also a great shoe around camp after a long days hike.

Bought a pair for my wife and I for a trip to Hawaii. Wanted to hike to water falls and not have to worry about wet socks or shoes. These were perfect and drained and dried quickly. Wore them first time on a hike and got no blisters or wired rub marks. We also used them in the black rock and green sand beaches and they were awesome! The reviews said they ran small but I wear a 12 in everything else and I have wide feet and these fit perfect. Will be buying another pair to have in hand when these are worn out.

I’m not sure I won’t return these new TA5’s. They are wider, and feel different, not sure I don’t need a smaller size. The heel strap is harder to use, the band behind the heel does not move smoothly through the openings and needs to be retightened once or twice?

I bought these shows for a backpacking trip in Havasupai Falls (AZ). Loved the shoes, they were perfect for crossing the streams and hiking on soft trails.
I wear size 8 and they fit fine. I like the construction of the shoes – collapsible heal proved to be a great feature, no need to carry extra slipper for the campsite. Overall great product.

I bought these for use in the warmer months as sandals rather than walking/running shoes. The mesh keeps your feet cool and the design does let water out if you walk through the sea/river. For walking or running they are fine on flat/easy ground but not for more difficult ground because of the stretchy heel design which is not as supportive as Salomon standard Trail/walking shoes.

These came in handy the first day I got them trying out my new Old Town canoe. Due to flipping it with water over my head, I had to swim with these on my feet while trying to salvage my canoe from sinking into 12 feet of water. Once I was able to bring the canoe to shore, the shoes gave me security to my feet in the mud, rocks, and anything that may have been at the bottom of the river. They saved my feet from any injury I could have gotten from my incident. I now swear by these.

My husband loves them. Extremely comfort, feel like shoes but don’t need socks. Great in the water.
Tigeragon –
Ideal for walking our English Springer Spaniel along our cliff tops and beach walk (twice a day), and are great for entering the water with her.

This is my 2nd pair in 10 years! I wear these a lot in the summer and on campouts with my son. They are a bit snug in the heel, probably by design it you use them as strictly water shoes. After wearing them 4-5 days they will mold to your feet and not feel to narrow. Are usually wear them without socks, I will wear socks to help break them in and get my feet used to them.

Love them! Comfortable, useful, and they look great!

international travel is one of those tricky pack and not check delimas. my intentions were to have this footwear in early spring for a couple of trips to jamaica that also required some skill set usage along with r&r. in the past i have always worn my speed cross in rivers and streams. worked fantastic in water or on land,.not so much with the tamph 5. the custom fitting is fantastic and materials were top notch with the exception of in sole. not that comfy for anything all day dry or wet. i personally would do two things to improve. make souls less rigid. your in water and need every surface to allow you not only to have a tactile feel but also grip. second, change the insole for all around comfort. a perforated foam or neoprene would be a good fit.

Bought these for a trip to Zion to hike the narrows. Super light weight, excellent grip, never let me down!

Some of the reviews I read mentioned the new ones don’t hold up as long as the old ones. Had my others ones since 2005. Fit and comfort is great. I wanted the fold down heel and also the separate strap around the ankle. Difficult to find in other brands.

I love the way they feel and look, nice comfortable shoe, true size for me
Jimbo80 –
Excellent water/trail shoe.. fit is spot on. Highly recommend.

I just bought the TECHAMPHIBIAN 5 and only have been able to take them on a couple of light hikes while on our Hawaiian Vacation and so far, they are preforming as advertised. They are comfortable and the back heel does not rub and blister like so many of the other shoes I have purchased before. We are in Mexico this week and should really be able to put these shoes to the text.
Nacho3 –
love them for how you can take them into the water and when you get out they flush out very nice. very sporty look, good for all outdoor activities. had a another pair few years back and I lost them on one of my trips. finally ordered another pair had to wait awhile for them to be back in stock. there was another style also that looked good but don’t see them anymore either maybe they will bring them back too looked nice also
AnotherBeachBum –
Like most everything about the Techamphibian 5 except the sole material. It is a hard(er) black rubber that is very slick on smooth surfaces. Super important to me as I use them mostly for scrambling on the beach. My Chacos, and the Tevas before them, are both better. Running shoes are better. Not asking for climbing rubber, but there are better choices. Will probably have to ditch these before I crack my head on a wet rock.
Bruffeds –
Ordered a pair for a trip to a few swimming holes in Northern Az. These handeled the rough wet granite terrain easily. Shoes did not retain water at all. all river walking was non slip and I felt sure footed even on submerged rocks and stones. I definitely recommend them!
JetSki –
Fast shipping, very comfortable. My expectations were fully met.

Nice looking showe I’m between a medium and wide fit on other shoes like this. This shoe definitely runs narrow. If Salomon made these in a wide fit, I’d be a buyer. As is, I must return them.
