Arcbark –
Just got these in ! decided to try these out when i visited texas. This model felt t a bit more breathable vs the norvan ld3 which is awesome and the traction is amazing. I shall continue to use these.
Maxy –
Great addition to the Vertex lineup, this shoe gives me the traction and support necessary for more technical trails. Would like a zip-lace version as seen with the Aerios Nivalis.
Katelyn –
Takes some time to break in – narrow fitting. Great approach shoe – would not recommend as an every day shoe.
Musky –
I bought this shoe to replace my Norvan GTX that held up great to everything in Strathcona on Vancouver island. So far this shoe feels great with a comfortable toe box. Can’t wait to put them through the test
Blake –
These held strong through the mud, snow and ice this weekend all the way to the top of Twin mountain in the Catskills of upstate NY. They don’t give an inch of slippage even on a slanted rock face on approach. Would highly recommend!

so many issues with these shoes. After wearing them for 1 week the synthetic upper already started to wear down and rip, I had the same probably with the synthetic upper on the konseal…. Another problem that comes with the shoes is it rips up your heel. After 4-5 hours it feels like my feet are ripping apart. Honestly for their first “in house” designed shoe it really feels like they made these in only 8-5 months. Very disappointing
Dave –
Great shoe, but had to return it for new size, ordered again.
Mark –
I bought it and returned it after trying it for 10 seconds.
The biggest problem is: it is not comfortable at all when you wear it.
Not easy to go in at all requiring your whole strength when you do it

I’ve had these shoes for a couple of weeks and they are great! Good toe protection for the sharp granite in New England. Nice stiffness to the sole which offers some protection to the arch of your foot. Super light. Great slip-on setup with a nice little lace tuck in the tongue. I love them!
ChelleTraveled –
These shoes look and feel great. They have enough stiffness to make a great scrambling shoe – but enough flex to be comfortable as on the approach in. I also love that they are goretex – as this makes some of the snow covered approaches a little more manageable, and I don’t have to worry about trying to climb with trench foot after a sloshy approach.
I sized down in these. I’m usually an 8.5, and while 8.5 would have been fine as a hiking shoe, I wanted a tighter fit for scrambling/climbing.
Chaman –
I got this shoe as an approach shoe, but have found myself using it pretty for pretty much everything. Really comfortable and it looks great to!

Sadly had send back due to being to small I’m usually size 42
Anyone thinking purchasing go up size as they come up small.
Quality was great, easy return.

I’m loving these shoes for trail running! While they do run a little long/big, their grip and stability on rocky and technical terrain are impressive.
As someone with narrow feet, I’m a bit cautious about the length in the toebox, especially for tackling 4th/low 5th class terrain. However, I’m planning to test them out on some upcoming alpine training trips and will provide an update on their performance.

Black Sapphire for Women’s needed please, a lot of these colors are only available for men’s style but womens besides all black and the purple, the rest colorways design are not appealing, really hard to match with my AR jacket color…

I’ve been waiting for a shoe like this for a while now. Perfect balance between an approach shoe with a trail runner. I have a wide toe box, so I was hesitant to purchase when I read they run on the narrower side. That being said find them roomie enough for running, but narrow enough for edging. Perfect for big days in the San Juans!
Bob27 –
Very uncomfortable, especially in the heel area where it is hard with little side pads that are meant to grab the sides of your heel. Felt like I would easily get blisters. Gore-tex scrambling shoes have little utility as having sweaty feet impacts grip confidence. All in all, I was just astounded with how uncomfortable they were. If somehow they do not give your feet blisters, their utility would be in cold weather.

I had been excited about these shoes partially because every product I’ve ever purchased by Arc’teryx has been of the utmost quality and very comfortable to wear. That said, unless there is an unusually long and arduous breaking in period I was not aware of, these quite possibly are the least comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. The soles are fine and quite adequate but I’ve never experienced such discomfort from a shoe on the top of my feet. It’s as if put my feet in some sort of Iron Maiden torture device and went for a long walk in them.

I’ve been super excited for Arc’teryx to put out a competitive approach shoe and they nailed it with the Vertex. Out of the box, they feel super narrow in the midsole area, so much so that I didn’t think I would be able to wear them. Fortunately, after just a couple hours in them, they broke in nicely. If you have wider feet, be patient with them as they’ll feel way tight.
Once broken in though, the shoe feels great. Superior comfort, modern lacing system, and functional performance make this a top tier approach shoe. The rubber feels pretty sticky and the shoes hold a decent edge as well. This shoe feels way less clunky than other approach shoes on the market and is definitely geared more towards long days scrambling in the mountains and moving fast. They are light weight yet very supportive and feel like they will hold up for a long time. The vertex is a great addition to your kit if you are pursuing modern, fast and light climbing days in the mountains.
Darren –
Sent back .l really wanted to like these shoes, but they were not comfortable and with the snug ankle portion made them to way hard to put on.
Oh well, otherwise great looking shoe .. just wasn’t for me
AAron –
Perfect blend of mountain running shoe and hiking boot. Best of both worlds with none of the downside.
